AMD officially launched Athlon II series processors based on 45nm process back early June. The first three dual-core Athlon II X2 gives major consumers deep impression and becomes the hot sale of DIY market.
When Athlon II X2 becomes best sale,AMD recently launches new Athlon II X4 series processors, which is also the first quad-core lineup designed to open up entry-level quad-core market. Our lab also gets Athlon II X4 620 at the first time.
Athlon II X4 620 is the one with lower frequency in the first batch of Athlon II X4 series. It clocks at 2.6GHz.(AthlonII X4 630 is 2.8GH). AthlonII X4 has similar feature dual-core Athlon II X2 due to the same Phenom II architecture.
It can be seen that AthlonII X4 620 based on Propus, has 13 multiplier. Each core has 64K of L1 instruction cache/64K of L1 data cache as well as 2MB of L2 cache.AthlonII X4 620 and Phenom II X4 series have the same 95W TDP. The lower TDP AthlonII X4 series will follow.
AthlonII X4 620 comes with latest AM3 interface(compatible with AM2+ motherboard)and 128bit memory controller with support for DDR3 1333和DDR2 1066 memory,the same as Phenom II series.
Although Athlon II X4 620 is entry-level quad-core product,it doesnt lack any important functions, like VT.
